Details Sought After Off-Duty DC Police Sergeant Shot By Hit-Run Driver New Details have emerged as the Metropolitan Police Department attempts to locate a wanted man who shot an an off-duty District of Columbia Housing Authority Police Sergeant on Tuesday afternoon. Shortly after 5 p.m. on Oct. 25, police say that the off-duty officer was driving his personal vehicle - not a marked cruiser - in the 2300 block of New York Avenue NE when the driver of a two-door Honda Accord pulled up behind at a high rate of speed, forcing the sergeant to slow down.
