Armed Robbers Stole From Fairfax Jewelry Store In Broad Daylight: Police Fairfax County police are searching for two men who robbed a local jewelry store, officials said. On Sept. 20, one suspect entered Sonia’s Jewelers & Boutique Inc., located at 6681 Backlick Road, at around noon, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The man pretended to shop for jewelry, before pulling out a gun and demanding the employees let his accomplice into the store, police reported. Ex-Youth Pastor In VA Busted With Child Porn While On Probation For Another Sex Crime: Feds A former youth pastor in Virginia pled guilty to distributing child pornography, while he was on probation for a different sex offense, officials reported. Deric Peacock, 39, of Highland Springs, used a messaging platform called "Wickr", to distribute the child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. He committed this crime while on probation for two previous convictions. DC Man Sentenced For Scheming To Steal $31M In Covid-19 Funds A 31-year-old D.C. man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to steal $31 million from the government’s COVID relief programs, officials said. Elias Eldabbagh used his company, Alias Systems, LLC, to apply for 25 phony Paycheck Protection Program loans between July 2020 and May 2021, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported. History Made: Virginia HS Senior Lands First Successful Quadruple Axel In Competition A Marshall High School senior made history at a recent figure skating competition in New York, officials said. Ilia Malinin successfully landed the first quadruple axel in a competition, making Fairfax County very proud, according to the Fairfax County Public Schools' website. Malinin's accomplishment comes after he served as the first alternate for the Olympic Team in Beijing this year, the website said. Victim Seriously Injured In Prince William County House Fire: Police A large fire consumed a Prince William County home early on Wednesday, Sept. 21, leaving one occupant seriously injured, officials said. At around midnight, fire crews arrived at home in flames, in the 12000 block of Point Longstreet Way, according to the Prince William County Fire and Rescue System. Breaking: Fairfax Pedestrian Hit By Car Has Serious Injuries, Police Say A pedestrian was hit by a car in a Fairfax County parking lot on Wednesday, Sept. 21, police said. Sometime before 2:30 p.m., officers arrived at the scene in the lot of 8389 Leesburg Park, where they discovered a woman had been hit by a car, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Murder Suspect Extradited Back To DC For 2020 Homicide: Police A 19-year-old suspect was brought back to D.C. to be charged for a 2020 homicide, police said. On Aug. 6, 2020, officers found 26-year-old Michael Brittingham suffering gunshot wounds in the 600 block of 46th Place, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Washington Monument Vandal In Custody, Cleaning Process Underway: Multiple Reports An Indiana man was arrested for vandalizing the Washington Monument.In the evening on Sept. 20, Shaun Deaton, 44 dumped red paint on one side of the monument and wrote an obscene message.
