Byram Man Gets 13 Years After Violating Probation: Sussex County Prosecutor
A 55-year-old Byram Township man was sentenced to 13 years in state prison on Friday, Nov. 8, after admitting he violated his recovery court probation, authorities said. Steven Kristiansen will receive credit for almost four years already served, Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said. Kristiansen had previously been sentenced to recovery court probation in connection with multiple counts of burglary and theft stemming from incidents in 2020 and 2021, Murray said. A 41-year-old Hopatcong teacher was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday, Nov. 15, after pleading guilty to illegally recording upskirt photos of his female students, authorities said. Two people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 521 South in Sussex County on Friday, Oct. 25, authorities said. At 7:53 a.m., two passenger vehicles collided in a head-on crash on County Road 521 South in Montague Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. A third vehicle struck debris from the prior collision, Lebron said. The two drivers involved in the head-on collision sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Lebron said. Branchville Man Airlifted After ATV Crash:

A 21-year-old Sussex County man had to be airlifted to a hospital after an ATV crash on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 19, authorities said. At 10:57 p.m., police responded to a property on East Shore Culver Road in Frankford Township after a Honda Fortrax ATV entered the roadway, lost directional control and the driver fell from the vehicle, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a Branchville resident, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, LeBron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Antique Car Damaged In Frankford Township Crash: Firefighters
An antique car suffered some scrapes in a car crash on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Sussex County. At 4:41 p.m., the Frankford Township Fire Department was dispatched to Route 206 and Broad Street for a car crash with injuries, firefighters said. Three people were evaluated for injuries and first responders dealt with a fuel spill from one of the vehicles, firefighters said. The injured people declined additional medical attention, firefighters said. “We were sad to see such a beautiful antique get damaged, but glad everyone was okay,” the Frankford Township Fire Department said.

West New York Motorcyclist, 39, Killed In County Crash
A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Sussex County crash over the weekend. Frank Jimeno, of West New York, was heading north on Route 23 on a KTM motorcycle when he veered off the side of the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail in Montague Township at milepost 50 Sunday, Oct. 6 around 10:30 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. A small plane crashed in Sussex County on Tuesday night, Aug. 27, authorities said. According to the FAA, a single-engine Champion Citabria crashed in Sussex around 7 p.m. New Jersey State Police said the plane crashed into a tree line on Main Street due to a fuel issue. The pilot suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. Only the pilot was on board. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. Teen Airlifted In UTV Accident On Sparta Farm: Police
An 18-year-old male was airlifted to the hospital following a crash on a Sussex County farm on Monday, Aug. 26, local police said. The male was riding on the back of the UTV, a larger type of ATV, which was being used to perform work on a farm on Layton Lane in Sparta, Sparta Police Capt. Tom Snyder said. The UTV made an unexpected turn and the victim lost his balance, falling off and hitting his head, Snyder said. He lost consciousness and was flown to the hospital. A person was hospitalized after they were trapped in an overturned dump truck Sussex County on Tuesday, Aug. 6, authorities said. A golf course located next to a former Playboy Club was vandalized in Sussex County on Saturday, July 27, authorities said. Vernon Mayor Anthony Rossi posted a video on Facebook of the vandalism at Great Gorge Golf Course, which is located next to the site of a former resort, that previously had a Playboy Club in the 70s and 80s.
