Child Overdose In East Pennsboro Lands Woman Endangerment Charges: Police
An Enola woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after a juvenile overdosed in her home, East Pennsboro police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Lauren Leah Mateo, 36, was charged after a juvenile ingested a controlled substance inside a residence on the 100 block of Adams Street, Enola, on Nov. 5, 2024, police said.
Officers responded to the scene at 8 a.m., providing care to the juvenile victim, according to authorities.
Following an investigation, Mateo was identified as the suspect, and charges were filed, police said.

A Maple Shade man was accused of selling drugs after bringing an overdosing child to a hospital, authorities said.
Daniel Garcia Jr., 27, was charged with possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
According to court documents and statements, Garcia and another person rushed the child to the hospital on Sunday, June 23. The child wasn't breathing, was having seizures, was drooling, and was unresponsive.

The suit, filed on Thursday, Sept. 5 by the family of 32-year-old Matthew Cornier, names Neptune Resources, LLC; Super Chill CBD Products; and Hometown Market. Philadelphia-based law firm Feldman Shepherd announced the legal action in a news release on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Three people have been arrested in connection with a drug overdose death of a pregnant woman in East Whiteland Township, authorities said.

Hudson Valley Dealer Admits Selling Fentanyl, Causing 3 Deaths, 3 Overdoses
A Hudson Valley man has admitted in court that he sold fentanyl that resulted in three deaths and three overdoses, according to Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
The incidents occurred in Rockland County between Feb. 2020 and April 2022.
Williams said Justin Turnick, age 25, of Congers, pled guilty to distributing the fentanyl causing the deaths and overdoses on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in US District Court.
