'Life-Threatening' Allergy Prompts Recall Of Wegmans Hummus In 8 States — Including PA A popular hummus sold at Wegmans in eight states and the District of Columbia has been recalled by the company, the FDA announced on Feb. 3.  A producer for Wegmans, Summer Fresh Salads Inc. of Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada has recalled Wegmans Harissa Hummus Topped With Harissa, according to the FDA.  The recall was prompted due to undeclared sesame in the produce. Alburger, of Summit Hill, was heading north when he tried to change lanes in a 219 Freightliner apparently for Wegmans, north of Braddock Road around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said. Wegmans To Get Rid of Plastic Bags By End Of The Year Customers will soon no longer be able to get single-use plastic bags at Wegmans stores in Virginia, the company announced this week.  The grocery chain said stores in Leesburg, Dulles, Potomac, Lake Manassas, Virginia Beach, and Charlottesville would stop using the bags beginning on July 1. Construction Tool Prompts Unfounded 'Shots Fired' Report At Wegmans A construction site worker using a masonry gun triggered an unfounded report of shots fired Friday afternoon at the Wegmans in Montvale. One of three men who were working at a development across from the supermarket was using the .22-caliber tool, Montvale Police Chief Joseph Sanfilippo said. The gun fires nails into concrete, masonry or steel. Police quickly -- and cautiously -- responded to the call shortly before noon. The matter was promptly resolved, the chief said.

Serious Storm Damage Closed Harrisburg Pike In Lancaster (Photos) The heavy rain and winds closed Harrisburg Pike on Wednesday night, according to Manheim Township police. The high winds caused fallen trees and construction debris to be strewn throughout the area. Harrisburg Pike closed between Route 30 and Crossings Boulevard at the entrance to Wegman's in Long's Park until emergency crews could clean up the area. Motorists were told to avoid this area and plan alternate routes of travel. The roads were cleared by Thursday morning.

Police Seek ID For Accused Northampton County Wegmans Thief Who Fled In Mercedes Benz Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a man they say stole a bag full of items from a Northampton County grocery store and fled in a Mercedes Benz. The man is accused of walking out of Wegmans in Hanover Township with a shopping bag full of unpaid merchandise, Colonial Regional Police said. The man was approached by the store’s security but fled in a black Mercedes Benz sedan, police said. Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to contact Officer Vas at vas@colonialregionalpd.org or call 610-861-4820. All tips can remain anonymous.
