Burglar Doesn't Make 'Best' Employee Stealing $14K Of Merch At Lancaster Nordstrom: Police

The person at Nordstrom who took a chance and hired the 46-year-old former convict, Anthony Best, probably wasn't having the "best" day when he was caught stealing the merchandise from the warehouse located at 30 Distribution Drive in Lancaster, as detailed in the police release.

Certain not the center's "best" employee, Best was arrested on Feb. 24 at 11:09 a.m., according to a release by Northwest Regional Police on March 3, 2023.

The loss prevention staff at the fulfillment center told the police Best had tried to steal 12 watches and several items of clothing— totaling $14,000 in items, according to the release.

Best was originally being held on $25,000 at the Lancaster County Prison but during the preliminary hearing Magisterial District Judge Randall L. Miller and the attorney present agree to adjust the bail to $100,000, but he still was able to post it and was released later that day, according to his latest court docket.

He served approximately three years in prison followed by two years of a three-year probation sentence for a Dauphin County burglary committed in 2013. Before his probation was completed in 2018, he was arrested for drug use or possession and returned to the Dauphin County Prison for another year. Most recently, in 2021 he was arrested for DUI in York County and served a six-month sentence in the York County Prison, according to his previous court dockets.

His formal arraignment for the theft has been scheduled for March 24, according to his docket.
