Meadowlands Hotel Housekeeper Finds Loaded Gun In Room, PA Guest Goes To Jail
A Pennsylvania man found himself in jail after a housekeeper at a hotel across the highway from MetLife Stadium found a loaded gun in his room, authorities said.
The 9mm Springfield Armory XD-E pistol found on a nightstand at the Hilton Meadowlands on eastbound Route 3 had eight hollow-point bullets in the magazine and a round in the chamber, East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said.

UPDATE: A man charged with brutally bludgeoning his 79-year-old mother with a fireplace poker called 911 to report the crime, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Responding police officers found Patrick Maupai, 40, on the lawn of the New Milford Avenue home that he shared with his mother, Linda Maupai, across the street from Dumont High School.
He was still on the phone talking with the dispatcher shortly before midnight Sunday, the prosecutor said.

A woman who left her 4-year-old child alone in a car in a handicapped spot outside the Walmart in Garfield was jailed after kicking a police officer, authorities said.
Officer Marlene Martinez found the unattended youngster in a rear child seat, with the driver's side door unlocked, after not seeing a handicapped placard shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Capt. Richard Uram said.
