'Extremely Intoxicated' Woman Kicks Officer In Chest, Police In Lancaster County Say A woman is facing felony charges after kicking a police officer in the chest, according to West Earl Township police. Karen P. Banerjee, 52, of the 80 block on Rosewood Drive, in Brownstown, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest on Friday. West Earl Police Officers were called to her home for a welfare check at approximately 3:30 p.m. Emergency Dispatchers told police she, "wasn’t making sense when speaking with them and could possibly be intoxicated." Serving on the force for 20 years -- 25 part time for West Earl police -- Metzler lived a life full of service to his community.  He previously worked for Ephrata Township police for seven and a half years, and spent 22 working as a volunteer firefighter with West Earl and Upper Leacock Fire Companies.  Metzler was a certified emergency medical technician for 34 years, serving Leola Ambulance and Ephrata Community Hospital Advanced Life Support Unit. West Earl PD: Man Loitering Outside Pastry Shop Busted With Non-Prescription Xanax A man loitering outside of a local pastry shop was arrested on drug charges after giving West Earl police a "bizarre story," authorities said. At 5:46 a.m. on Wednesday, police were dispatched for a suspicious person loitering outside of Achenbach’s Pastry, 375 E. Main Street, Leola. When officers arrived they found a man matching the description provided by Emergency Dispatch Services. Casey Leonard, 23, of Lancaster appeared impairment and provided officers with a "bizarre story" on how he ended up at Achenbach’s pastry, according to police.
