Over 42,000 Pennsylvanians are under mandatory water conservation order after an oil slick was spotted and an odor was emanating from Condoguient Creek. Pennsylvania American Water issued the order on Oct. 17 after the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection opened an investigation into the "reports of a petroleum-type odor and sheen on the Conodoguinet Creek in Silver Spring Township," as stated in a release by the PA DEP. Multiple Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In Cumberland County
After "multiple collections of mosquitoes" test positive for West Nile Virus, parts of Cumberland County will be "conducting an Adult Mosquito Control Spray on Thursday, August 11," authorities say. “Our recent collections have revealed high populations of adult mosquitoes, some of which were determined to have West Nile Virus,” said John Bitner, Cumberland County Vector Control. This year's first pool of West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes has been identified in Pennsylvania, health officials announced. As of Thursday, June 16, virus activity has only been reported in four counties: Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, and Cumberland, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said. Tanker-Truck Catastrophe Averted In Bucks County
A tanker truck fire that nearly expanded into a larger disaster was quickly brought under control in Bucks County early Tuesday, authorities said. The fire was reported at about 1:05 a.m. in the parking lot of Quala Wash at 1000 Imperial Court in Bensalem, officials said. The fire was contained to the cab portion of a tanker truck.
