Authorities have identified the driver who died after crashing in Coaldale Borough on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 7. Nicole Oplinger, 42, was near the intersection of West Water and West Miner streets around 3 p.m. when she lost control of her car and struck multiple trees, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Oplinger, of Lansford, was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem where she passed from multiple traumatic injuries around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, the coroner said. A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused major delays on US Route 30 on Friday afternoon. The tractor-trailer leaked fuel onto US Rt. 30 East by Exit: PA 462 - Lincoln Highway, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. The jackknifing happened around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, dispatchers explained. No injuries were reported, but a HazMat crew remains on the scene for "spill control," dispatchers said. Company 63 from the Lafayette Fire Company assisted Lancaster County HazMat with the cleanup. The fuel came from the tractor-trailer's saddle tanks, the company explained. …

Poconos Woman, 56, Killed In Early Morning Crash: Police
One woman is dead and two other people are wounded after a two-car crash in Pocono Township early Monday, Nov. 27, according to authorities. Police were called to Route 314 between Summit Road and Swiftwater Avenue around 6:45 a.m., the department said in a release.
