Teen Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Less Than 3 Miles From His Central PA Home

The 18-year-old man who was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday has been identified by authorities and his family on Monday, March 18.

Josiah Marrero of the 300 block of Country Ridge Drive in York Township died at the scene of a crash approximately three miles from his home, according to the coroner and Google Maps. 

The crash happened in the 3200 block of Cape Horn Road at 10:49 a.m. on March 14 and crews were called to the scene approximately two minutes later according to the York County Department of Emergency Services.

Deputy Coroner Jacob Clevenger was called to the scene at 11:09 a.m., as detailed in the coroner's release. 

Josiah was wearing a helmet but he was seen speeding and passing cars while heading south on Cape Horn Road, the coroner explained citing police. It is believed he was "unable to be seen by a turning vehicle, the motorcycle struck the side of the turning vehicle," as stated in the release. 

Information regarding the driver of the other vehicle was not immediately available from the police.

Josiah was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. His cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma and the manner was ruled accidental. "There will be no autopsy but routine toxicology was obtained" Chief Coroner Pam Gay stated in the release.

Josiah graduated from Dallastown Area Senior High School in 2023, according to his social media. His girlfriend and family miss him dearly. 

Funeral and memorial service details had not been released at the time of publishing.
