$188K Check Forgery Scheme Ends In Arrest After Months-Long Investigation: Nassau PD A months-long investigation has culminated in the arrest of a 41-year-old Long Island man accused of orchestrating a sophisticated check forgery scheme that netted $188,320.55, police said. Adamantios Mathioudis, 41, of East Elmhurst, NY, became the center of the investigation on March 5, when the Fraud and Forgery Unit of the Major Case Squad received reports of two business checks intercepted after being mailed via the U.S. Postal Service, Nassau County police said. $2M Powerball Ticket Sold In New Jersey A $2 million winning Powerball ticket from the Saturday, Dec. 21 drawing sold in New Jersey. The lucky ticket matched the five numbers drawn and the Power Play, but not the Powerball. A second ticket matching the same was sold in Idaho. The numbers were: 1, 12, 17, 21, 58, and the Powerball was 1. The Power Play was 3X. Lottery officials are expected to announce where the ticket was sold in the coming days.

Elderly Driver Plows Into Three Manchester Homes, Two Hospitalized: Police An elderly driver crashed into three homes Saturday morning, Dec. 21 in Manchester Township, sending two people ot the hospital, police said. It happened in the Leisure Village West community, causing extensive damage just before 11 a.m., according to the Manchester Township Police Department. Firefighter Injured During Santa Detail In Glen Rock (Photos) A Glen Rock volunteer firefighter was hospitalized Saturday night, Dec. 21, after sustaining a head injury during a "Santa Detail" event, according to incident reporter Boyd A. Loving. The 24-year-old firefighter was riding on top of a fire truck when his head was struck by a low-hanging tree branch on Doremus Avenue, near the Glen Rock Municipal Pool, Loving said.
