Colder Air Mass Could Bring Snow To Parts Of Region
An unseasonable stretch of springlike temperatures will be followed by the arrival of a colder air mass that could bring a round of snowfall next week. The potential for snow could cover a stretch of about 2,000 miles, according to AccuWeather forecasters. First Snow Of The Season Leads To Delays In Pennsylvania
The first snow of fall 2022 has fallen in Pennsylvania. People in Grove City, Slippery Rock, and Portersville woke up to snow, although the latter only had it on the grass. The Slippery Rock School District was delayed for two hours due to the snow. A Freeze Warning is in effect for eastern portions of Fayette and Westmoreland Counties. A burst of cold air that will engulf the Northeast early this week will make it feel more like mid-November than mid-October, with wintry precipitation possible in some areas. Sunday, Oct. 16 will be partly cloudy and cooler with a high temperature in the upper 50s, providing perfect conditions to go apple-picking or enjoy the fall foliage. AccuWeather Releases Winter Weather Outlook
Long-range forecasters for AccuWeather have just released their projections for the winter of 2022-23. Senior Meteorologist Paul Pastelok and his team are predicting La Niña will shape the weather patterns across the United States for the third straight year. The first snowfall of the season was expected to make its way to the region Wednesday morning. Only one to three inches were expected across New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania with temps in the low 30s overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, meteorologists say. Allentown Police Shovel Out Car, Donate Food To Elderly Woman Trapped In Home Since Snowstorm
Allentown Police sprang to action to shovel out an elderly woman’s car and provide her with groceries after learning that she had been snowed in since last week’s storm. Officers responding to a request for a welfare check on the 700 block of S. Genesee Street Monday afternoon made contact with the elderly woman, who had been unable to shovel or leave her home following the heavy snowfall, the department said on Facebook.
