Water Rescue Saves Duo Trapped In Cocalico Creek Flooding A pair was rescued from a car trapped in flood waters in Ephrata on Wednesday, fire officials announced the following morning.  The water rescue happened on West Mohler Church Road along Cocalico Creek, sometime in the early evening of April 3, according to the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company. Crews with the company were able to get the duo out of the vehicle with no injuries reported. "No matter the time of day or weather conditions, our volunteers are always here to answer your call for help," the fire company concluded its release.

Firefighter Injured At Martin's Country Market Multi-Million Dollar Fire In Ephrata (Photos) A firefighter was injured and Martin's Country Market has announced that it has closed "indefinitely" following a massive fire early on Thursday, Feb. 15. The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. at the popular market located at 1717 West Main Street in Ephrata Township, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications.  The fire shuttered Route 322 in both directions between Wood Corner and Robert roads, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation explained. Allen "Ray" Nolt, was driving along Cabin Drive in West Earl Township when his vehicle became "trapped in the high waters" of the Conestoga River on Monday morning, Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber explained.  The "submerged" 73-year-old was rescued from his vehicle and taken to WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital's Emergency Department, where he was pronounced dead at 7:43 a.m., on Dec. 18, Bieber detailed. Ephrata's Marlin Fausnacht Died Before Crashing Into Creek New details have been released after a man crashed his car into Cocalico Creek. Marlin Fausnacht, 77 of the 800 block of Pointview Avenue,  Ephrata, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash into the creek at 6:18 a.m., according to the Lancaster County Coroner's Office.  He was initially thought to have had a medical event before driving his Toyota Corolla off the 100 block of Old Mill Road in the borough. Elevator Arson In Ephrata Under Investigation Two juveniles have been identified in connection with arson in an elevator, Ephrata police said. Police were dispatched to the Windstream parking garage located at Locust and Grant Streets, Ephrata Borough shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday for reports of smoke coming from an elevator. There they found Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company on scene and the fire extinguished. The elevator sustained fire damage to the wall and floor with smoke damage throughout the unit.
