Hundreds of mink were released from a Northumberland County farm on Saturday, Oct. 19, leading to two arrests, according to authorities. The animals were released from Richard H. Stahl Sons Inc. farm in Sunbury, according to a news release from Fur Commission USA. Rescue officials are desperate for help after 30 animals were seized from a home in Berks County. The Department of Animal Protection from the Animal Rescue League of Berks County was performing a wellness check when they removed 22 dogs, three cats, five snakes, and two geckos were removed from a home in Womelsdorf on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Amish Farm Has Two-Alarm Barn Fire: Authorities
An Amish barn had a blaze burning through it early Thursday morning, Oct. 10, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. The call to the fire at the farm located in the 5900 block of Meadville Road in Salisbury Township, Narvon came into LCWC at 3:24 a.m., according to the supervisor. The area of Meadeville and Red Hill roads were closed as fire crews battled the blaze. The barn stored hay, not animals, so no humans or animals were injured. : Cat Shot In Face, Middletown Police Say
A cat was found shot in the face and neck in Central Pennsylvania, police announced on Tuesday, March 12. The Middletown Borough Police Department has launched a "criminal investigation" after the cat was found in the 100 block of West Water Street in the borough. The cat had "several injuries on its face and neck which were the result of being shot with a BB gun," police said noting that "the injuries are believed to have been inflicted late last week." A Harrisburg man was hit by a drunk driver while helping an injured dog, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police. The 58-year-old Harrisburg man was driving on US 522S in Oliver Township when he struck a dog, pulled over, and got out to check if it was ok, state police explain in the release. A Columbia County man has been arrested on 353 counts of animal cruelty, according to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Philip C. Malencore, 61 of Berwick was arrested following an investigation conducted by PSPCA.
