PA Dad Gets Probation In College Admissions Scandal
A Pennsylvania man was sentenced in Boston on Thursday, Aug. 11 to one year of probation for bribing a Georgetown University coach into recruiting his daughter, according to the US Attorney's Office for Massachusetts. Robert Repella, 63, of Ambler, will serve the first 25 days of his sentence in home detention, as well as complete 220 hours of community service and pay a $220,000 fine, the office said. Man Sold THC Edibles Via Instagram To Kids Across Philly Area, DA Says
A 20-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing charges for using Instagram to sell THC edibles to children as young as 11 years old, authorities said. Quashon Rice was arrested after a raid of his Philadelphia home on Tuesday, June 14 turned up 40 bags of marijuana-laced edibles, 10 individually packaged bags of marijuana, a ghost gun, and drug-related materials, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. A national study is measuring the effects of contaminated drinking water in 10 regions of the country including towns near military bases in Pennsylvania. The contaminants, known as PFAS, are also called “forever” chemicals because they stay in bodies for many years and have been linked to potentially serious health problems. A delivery driver admitted to charges of homicide by vehicle and seven counts of reckless endangerment in a Pennsylvania Turnpike crash that killed a 5-year-old girl, WFMZ reports. Police in Ambler is seeking the public's help locating a 15-year-old boy. Corban Samuelson is from Massachusetts and was in Ambler visiting when he reportedly ran away to Philadelphia, Ambler police said.
