A 26-year-old driver was heavily intoxicated when he fled from a Hilltown Township police officer leading to a crash that killed his passenger, a former volunteer firefighter, authorities said.
Colin John Wahlers, of Perkasie, was arraigned Friday, Aug. 2, on charges of homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police, involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence-general impairment, driving under the influence-highest rate, and recklessly endangering another person, according to the Bucks County District Attorney.

Officials are advising residents across southeastern and central Pennsylvania to take caution ahead of the snowstorm predicted for Friday, Jan. 19, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.
Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, and parts of lower Bucks and Montgomery counties are under a winter storm warning as of 5 p.m. Thursday. In Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northampton, and upper Bucks and Montgomery counties, a winter weather advisory is in place.

Longtime Perkasie Fire Captain Dies At 55
Christopher R. Pettit Sr., a Fire Police captain with the Perkasie Fire Company, died suddenly on Friday, June 30, his loved ones said in his obituary. He was 55.
Pettit, of East Rockhill, had worked in the Fire Police for 15 years, relatives wrote.
He had previously served his community as a 911 dispatcher for Bucks County Emergency Communications, and prior to that was a certified EMT for the Harleysville and Central Bucks Ambulance Corps, his obit says.
After Pettit's passing on Friday, his Perkasie colleagues penned a tribute on social media.

Serial Bank Robber Who Nearly Killed PA Trooper Trying To Arrest Him Gets 25 Years
A serial bank robber who nearly killed a Pennsylvania State Police trooper trying to arrest him was sentenced to 25 years in prison, authorities said.
Christopher Larue, 44, was on supervised release after serving a 12-year prison sentence when he entered the QNB Bank in Perkasie brandishing a gun and robbing the bank of $11,000 on Oct. 19, 2020, United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams said.
Larue, of Lansdale, was convicted in 2009 of five additional bank robberies, the attorney said.
