Trio Caught With Drugs In Monroe County Hotel Room, DA Says
Three men are in custody after police said they found syringes, a crack pipe, and fentanyl in a Bartonsville hotel room on Tuesday, April 30. Twenty-nine-year-old Brandon Cabrera of Effort, 32-year-old Christopher Ferraro of East Stroudsburg, and 28-year-old Dylan Smith of Stroudsburg all face drug an paraphernalia charges, said the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. PA Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Route 80 In Sussex County (

A 35-year-old Pennsylvania man was struck and killed while crossing Route 80 in Sussex County Wednesday night, Sept. 20, state police confirmed. Troopers responded to the accident on the westbound side near milepost 23.2 in Byram Township around 7:55 p.m., NJSP Det. Jeffrey Lebron told Daily Voice. A Hyundai passenger vehicle was heading westbound when it fatally struck a man from Effort, PA, who was crossing the roadway, Lebron said. The man’s identity was being withheld pending family notification. The accident remains under investigation.

Hoarding Case Puppies Among 170 Animals Seized Desperately Need To Be Adopted: Rescuers
Rescuers are pleading for the public to adopt puppies and other animals seized in a Pennsylvania hoarding case this week. More than 170 animals were seized from an Effort (Monroe County) home on Friday, July 14, after the homeowner died, the PSPCA said. The animals were taken to various shelters in the area, but the PSPCA said conditions were already overcrowded — and are begging for future pet owners to adopt. A Pennsylvania member of a drug ring that trafficked massive amounts of heroin and cocaine into New Jersey must spend more than 16 years in federal prison.
