A former police corporal has died, the Darby Borough Police announced on Monday, July 29.
Retired Darby Borough K9 Police Officer Thomas "Tom" Takacs Sr., 53, of Upper Chichester (formerly of Norwood and Tinicum) passed Friday, July 26, 2024, at home, according to his obituary posted by the Marvil Funeral Home.
Tom "retired in 2009 after 10 years of service," as written in his obituary. Before he was a police officer, Tom was a K-9 officer at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.

Apple Film Crew To Slow Traffic In Bucks County, Says PennDOT
Bucks County drivers can expect some detours in the weeks ahead, as roads will close to allow Apple Studios to film for an upcoming project, state officials say.
Film crews will be shooting on Route 113 (Bedminster Road) in Bedminster and Tinicum townships, said the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in a statement.

UPDATE: A Delaware man was sentenced in federal court in Philadelphia on Monday to 35 years in prison for running a multi-state sex trafficking operation that brutally victimized vulnerable young women and underage girls for years.
