The same thing happened three months ago near Kanzer's home in Dobbs Ferry -- the same pole, only this time it was a teenage driver who lost control. The “STOP-DWI” campaign includes underage drinking enforcement, increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints in an effort to deter and identify impaired drivers. Funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the campaign runs from Saturday, Feb. 2 until 2 4 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4. Traffic Deaths In NYC Hit 100-Year Low Walking and driving in New York City may be getting safer, according to new statistics that found that traffic deaths are at their lowest number in a century. The New York Transportation Department reported that 196 people were killed in traffic accidents through Dec. 26 last year, an 11 percent decrease from 2017. The mark is the lowest in 100 years, according to the Wall Street Journal.
