Former High School All-County Football, Basketball Standout In Westchester Dies George Taranto, a Connecticut resident and former high school sports standout in Westchester County, has died at the age of 77. According to his obituary, Taranto, of Danbury, was a graduate of Ardsley High School and was all-county in football and basketball. He served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1965. Taranto worked as a buyer for Bayer Aspirin in Tarrytown for more than 35 years.  He also loved to hunt, fish and golf. Litchfield County Woman Killed, Danbury Man Seriously Injured In Double-Fatal I-84 Crash Two people were killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle double fatal crash on I-84. The single-vehicle crash took place around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, in the Town of Middlebury, killing two a teenage woman and young man and seriously injuring another victim from Danbury, said the Connecticut State Police. According to state police, the crash occurred when a Chevy Cobalt was seen traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control just before Exit 17, in the Town of Middlebury. Man Indicted in Carjacking Of Woman Outside Middletown YMCA A carjacking that started outside the Middletown YMCA led to felony charges for a 28-year-old man who was indicted in Orange County Court. Worcester, Massachusetts resident Felix Maldonado was indicted on two felony robbery counts, as well as menacing and petit larceny charges, misdemeanorson  Thursday. A woman was attacked in the parking lot of the YMCA shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22. CT State Police Nab NY Stolen Vehicle Suspect With Help Of 'Pinging' Cell Phone A man driving a car stolen in the Hudson Valley was nabbed in Connecticut with the help of a cell phone left inside the vehicle state police were able to "ping" for its location.  Connecticut State Poice were notified around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday about a 2011 Nissan Sentra that was stolen during a carjacking in Orange County, and may be heading for the area, according to Connecticut State Police.
