AMENIA, N.Y. -- An Amenia garden and ones in Connecticut comprise a public the Garden Conservancy is offering Saturday. The Amenia site showcases a water feature with hand-dug pools. Starting as a rocky hillside that was mostly lawn, Jade Hill has grown into a stroll garden designed to be a tapestry of texture and color. Dutchess Celebrates Independence Day With Riverside Celebration
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - It seemed like most of Dutchess County was on the Poughkeepsie waterfront Saturday night, as the city celebrated the Fourth of July with lots of activities prior to the night's highlight - a fireworks display near the Mid Hudson Bridge. Two of the area's more popular restaurants - both with riverfront views - were packed, as those lucky enough to get a table were able to grab a bite and watch the fireworks at Shadows on the Hudson or the Poughkeepsie Ice House on the Hudson. Amenia's Jade Hill Part Of Bistate Garden Tour
COLD SPRING, N.Y. – The Garden Conservancy plans to open four private and public gardens during a July 9 fundraiser, according to organizers. John Jay High School Lyme Forum Draws Large Crowd
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A forum on ticks and Lyme disease at John Jay High School drew a large turnout on Monday. Matthew Fyre, an educator for Integrated Pest Management at Cornell University, advised treating clothes with permethrin before going out and checking for ticks, The Poughkeepsie Journal said. When a tick is found, then Fyre advised taking sharp forceps or tweezers and grabbing the tick close to its head and gently and consistently pull, reported Poughkeepsie Journal. POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie will once again celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks display that can be viewed from the Walkway Over the Hudson on Saturday, July 2. Tickets are $12.50 per person and can be purchased online. The walkway will close to the general public at 5:30 p.m. and re-open to those with tickets and wristbands at 6:30 p.m. Pets, fireworks, glass, smoking and alcohol are all prohibited on the walkway. BEACON, N.Y. -- After a major hull restoration this winter, the Hudson River’s iconic tall ship Clearwater is embarking on her 47th sailing season. Melissa McGill Leads Constellation Tours In Beacon
BEACON, N.Y. -- Local constellation artist Melissa McGill will be leading tours to Bannerman Island under the night sky throughout this summer in Beacon.Aboard The Estuary Steward, attendees will get a walking tour of the island and a constellation viewing from the water as stars shift from twilight to the dark of night.
