Open Fires Banned In Westchester Parks As Drought Watch Continues As dry conditions continue, open fires have been banned in Westchester County-owned parks. The ban was announced on Wednesday, Nov. 6 by Westchester Parks officials, who also said it was effective immediately. The ban follows a Drought Watch declared by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as a result of low precipitation levels. All lanes of a busy parkway at a busy intersection in Northern Westchester have reopened following a crash. Car Fire At Railroad Crossing Causes Metro-North Delays In North White Plains A car fire at a Northern Westchester railroad crossing is causing severe delays on a Metro-North line. The blaze happened on Thursday morning, Nov. 7 at the Virginia Road crossing in the North Castle hamlet of North White Plains, an MTA spokesperson said just before 11 a.m. The incident is now causing "severe delays" of 85 minutes on the Harlem Line, the spokesperson added. Former Chief Of Ardsley Fire Department Dies: 'Will Be Sorely Missed' The beloved former chief of a Westchester County fire department is being remembered for serving his community for six decades. Joseph Marsek, the former chief of the Ardsley Fire Department, died on Monday, Nov. 4 at the age of 81, according to his obituary. 3 Hospitalized After House Fire In Hudson Valley Three people were rescued from a burning Hudson Valley home and hospitalized, firefighters said.
