Worker Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center After Falling 7 Stories
An employee of a Hudson Valley power plant is in critical condition after falling seven stories into the hopper in ductwork. The incident took place in Rockland County around 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Bowline Power Plant in West Haverstraw. According to Chief Bob LaGrow of the West Haverstraw Fire Department, the worker fell into the shaft of the hopper of the ductwork and fell seven stories, landing on a base platform. Authorities have released the identity of a man killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. The crash occurred in Rockland County around 3 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 on the Palisades Parkway in Haverstraw. A man who attempted to jump from the new Tappan Zee Bridge was rescued by troopers and a special police unit who rappelled over the side of the bridge and pulled him up with ropes. Man Drowns While Swimming At Pond In Area, Police Say
A man died after jumping into an area pond and then failed to resurface. The incident took place around 12:40 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, in Rockland County at the pond located at Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Spring Valley fire and police responded to the park after receiving a report of a man who was swimming in the water, went under, and never resurfaced, said Spring Valley PD Detective Matt Galli. Three police officers in the Hudson Valley are being hailed as heroes for helping to rescue two children after a house fire broke out. It happened in North Rockland on Saturday morning, March 13. A 33-year-old Rockland County man was found dead in the Ramapo River after going swimming early in the morning. The incident began early Thursday, July 2, when the Village of Suffern Police responded to the area after being notified by a village employee of a missing man in the river, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn. A 22-year-old man who suffered head trauma and other injuries after falling off of a cliff face at High Tor State Park in Rockland was saved by first responders. Body Of Man Pulled From Lake In Harriman State Park
The body of a possible drowning victim was pulled by dive teams from a lake in Harriman State Park near the border of Rockland and Orange counties on Monday morning. Lake Skannatati in Tuxedo was closed during the search. The man went underwater early Sunday afternoon. Thiells Fire Department divers were called to the scene after the Tuxedo Town Fire Department, Monroe Fire Department, Cronomer Valley Fire Department and Stony Point Fire Department all responded. Man Dies After Being Pulled From Pomona Fire
A man died early Wednesday after a fire ripped through his Pomona home. The fire was reported around 3:03 a.m. at 286 Quaker Road, according to Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1. When firefighters arrived on scene flames were spreading outside the back of the one-story house to the roof. They were also informed by neighbors there was a possibility of an occupant still in the home, the department said. Firefighters searched the home and found a 63-year-old man inside a bedroom.
