Rye Author Publishes Second Children’s Book After Going Blind
RYE, N.Y.-- Andrew Kranichfeld had what he called “a unique place to grow up.”
His family lived in Rye in an uncharacteristically small house -- snug for Andrew, his parents and two brothers.
Special about the home was that it sat on four acres of land, surrounded by broad grassy fields, a driveway large enough to make a U-turn, a wood shop and three greenhouses.

Northern Westchester Assemblyman Steve Katz Won’t Seek Re-Election
MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- Assemblyman Steve Katz will not seek re-election in November, he announced on Tuesday.
Katz (R, C, I), representing New York’s 94th assembly district, which includes most of Putnam County and some of northern Westchester County, has served in the state legislature since 2011.
Katz's decision to not seek a fourth term was first revealed on Tuesday in a New York Times profile of state legislators holding second jobs.
“I’m living the dream right now,” Katz, who owns a veterinary hospital in the Bronx, told the Times. “And then I come back to the nightmare of Albany.”
