Silverberg was born in Nyack in October 1933. In addition to being a Hillcrest Fire Company member, Silverberg was also an active member of other state and county associations, such as the Rockland County Volunteer Firefighters' Association and was an honorary member of the West Nyack volunteer Fire Department, the Hillcrest Fire Company said in a Facebook post Wednesday.
"We all mourn his passing and the tremendous void he will leave behind. He truly will be missed!" the Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 announced in the post.
His funeral was held on Thursday, July 14 at Hellman's Funeral Home and was a spiritual, firematic, military service. Silverberg was interred at Brick Church Cemetery.
