Southwest Airlines Sued, Frontier Fined For Chronic Flight Delays: Feds
The federal government is suing Southwest Airlines and fined Frontier Airlines, accusing the carriers of illegally operating multiple chronically delayed flights and causing significant problems for travelers. The U.S. Department of Transportation filed a lawsuit against Southwest on Wednesday, Jan. 15, the DOT said in a news release. More than 2,500 Southwest Airlines flights were canceled and 8,3072 delayed as of Wednesday, Dec. 28, leaving even more passengers across the US stranded and seething. Fairfield County Native Named US Merchant Marine Academy's First Female Superintendent
A woman from Fairfield County has been selected as the Long Island-based US Merchant Marine Academy's first female superintendent, the US Department of Transportation and the Maritime Administration announced. Rear Admiral Joanna M. Nunan, who is originally from Bridgeport, has been selected for the position at the academy located on Long Island, in Kings Point. New Airline Coming To Long Island MacArthur
It'll be a breeze to get a flight at MacArthur Airport after an upstart airline added the Long Island destination to its growing list of routes. “Breeze Airways,” which was founded by David Neelman, the mind behind JetBlue and other major airline start-ups, is set to begin flying in and out of the Ronkonkoma airport as soon as early 2022.
