The successful rescue operation happened at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, June 23, near Reeves Beach, located in the Riverhead hamlet of Baiting Hollow. A man called 911 saying he was unable to locate his friend who had been on a kayak west of the beach. Police and fire officials in Riverhead responded around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8 to the driveway of a home at 2 Sebastian Drive in Baiting Hollow.
