It happened on Tuesday, Aug. 1 in Mineola, according to Nassau County Police.
A 45-year-old woman was walking on Mineola Boulevard, near Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 2:15 a.m.
That’s when a trio of men carrying baseball bats jumped out of a white hatchback, police said.
All three of the men began beating the woman with the bats, chipping her two front teeth and causing multiple bruises and abrasions.
One of the men reportedly hit the victim in the back of the neck hard enough to tear her shirt.
Money that she had been hiding in her blouse fell out when her shirt tore, which the thieves stole before fleeing the scene in the white hatchback.
The amount stolen has not been specified.
The first two men were both described as being 5-foot-10 with a thin build, while the third man was shorter, described as being 5-foot-6 with a medium build.
All three were wearing black shirts, pants, and masks.
The victim took herself to the hospital after the incident and was treated for her injuries.
Detectives with Nassau County encourage anyone with information regarding the crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
