Rain Will Give Way To Sun In Putnam For Holiday Weekend

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A slow-moving front coupled with a tropical storm will make for a damp start to Independence Day weekend in Putnam County, but skies are expected to clear for Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms will roll through the area Thursday afternoon, July 3, and into Friday morning. Temperatures on Thursday are expected to reach 86 degrees with an 80 percent chance of rain.

Precipitation will remain in the area for Friday, July 4, with a high of 78 and a 60 percent chance of wet weather.

Skies will clear for Saturday, making way for abundant sunshine and temperatures in the low to mid-80s for the remainder of the holiday weekend.
