Police Officer From Northern Westchester Dies At Age 53 A Hudson Valley police officer is being remembered for his dedicated service to both his local community and his country.  Putnam County resident Daniel Bruno of Mahopac died on Thursday, June 22 at the age of 53, according to his obituary.  Born in 1969 in Mount Kisco, Bruno graduated from Somers High School before serving his country with the US Marine Corps. Ex-College Athlete Found Guilty In Stabbing Of Roommate From Northern Westchester A 23-year-old Long Island man was found guilty of stabbing his former college lacrosse teammate, a Northern Westchester County man, during a dispute about a loud party.  Matthew Stockfeder was convicted on Thursday, March 24, of first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the 2019 stabbing of his then-roommate Justin Corpolongo, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. 27 From Westchester Named Regeneron Science Scholars A total of 31 of the Hudson Valley's best and brightest high school seniors were among 300 chosen to compete with some of the nation’s top students in the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition. The 300 scholars were chosen out of 1,760 applications that were received from 611 high schools across 49 states. The 300 hail from 193 American and international high schools, Puerto Rico, and two other countries. Of the scholars, 27 came out of Westchester, with three in Putnam, and one in Dutchess. The crash occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Blackberry Hill Road in Somers, just south of Somers High School and opposite Reis Park. The ATV operated by Somers High School student and Shenorock resident Reece Ferrara struck a concrete mailbox pillar, ejecting Ferrara from the vehicle, according to state police.
