A woman has been sentenced to six months in jail for the double-fatal, hit-and-run crash in the region.
Orange County resident Angela Fischl, age 25, of Newburgh, pleaded guilty to two counts of leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death on Tuesday, Oct. 15,
Following her plea, she was sentenced to five years probation and six months in the Ulster County Jail. Her driver’s license was also revoked, said Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji.

A man and a woman were struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while attempting to cross a busy roadway in the region.
The crash occurred in Ulster County around 9:30 p.m., Saturday, March 1 in the town of Marlboro.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Donna Cristallo, age 72, was pushing Stephen Celuch, age 75, both of Kingston, in his wheelchair attempting to cross Route 9W.

Woman Severely Injured After Being Struck By Car Crossing Route 9W During Downpour
A 40-year-old woman was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 9W during a heavy downpour.
The accident took place around 6:50 p.m., Thursday, May 2, while the woman, a resident of Piermont, was crossing the highway near Highland Avenue, said Piermont Police Chief Michael O'Shea.
O'Shea said the woman was hit by a man who was driving north on Route 9W. The woman landed on the vehicle's hood and almost went through the windshield, the chief said.
She received severe head trauma, broken bones in her arms and legs, and numerous other injuries, O'Shea added.

A 79-year-old man who died after crashing into a building has been identified.
Marshall J. Mannese, of Milton, was killed during a single-vehicle crash with the pickup truck slamming into a vacant home in Highland, said Town of Lloyd Police Lt. James Janso.
The crash took place 11:20 a.m., Friday, April 5, on Route 9W in Highland, said Janso.
The crash occurred when Mannese, traveling northbound on Route 9W in a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, lost control and crossed over the southbound lane of Route 9W and crashed into a vacant building, Janso said.
