Alleged Bribes, Illegal Campaign Cash: Feds Lay Out Case Against NYC Mayor Eric Adams
Federal authorities released the indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday, Sept. 26, laying out their case for corruption, bribery, and misuse of public funds, reports said.
Federal investigators have charged the 64-year-old Democrat with five counts, including conspiracy to receive illegal foreign campaign contributions, wire fraud, and bribery, said Damian Williams, the US. attorney for the Southern District of New York in a news conference.

Off-Duty Nypd Officer Shot After Arranging To Pick Up Car Through Facebook
Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on an off-duty NYPD officer, critically wounding him, as he attempted to purchase a vehicle.
The officer, who has not been named, went to purchase the vehicle that was posted in a Facebook Marketplace ad around 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4 in the area of 472 Ruby St., said New York City Police.
When the officer and his brother-in-law arrived, a man almost immediately pulled out a gun and demanded the money, said the NYPD.
The officer had reportedly brought $24,000 to the meet to purchase a Honda Pilot.

Local State Of Emergency Declared In NYC Due To Monkeypox Outbreak
New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared a local state of emergency due to the monkeypox outbreak.
Adams issued the emergency executive order on Monday, Aug. 1.
As of Friday, July 29, 1,289 people in New York City had tested positive for monkeypox.
“New York City now has over 1,200 reported cases, approximately 25 percent of cases nationally, and we are continuing to see the numbers rise," Adams said. "This order will bolster our existing efforts to educate, vaccinate, test, and treat as many New Yorkers as possible and ensure a whole-of-government response to this outbreak."

ID Released For 'Law & Order' Crew Member Shot, Killed In NYC
A 31-year-old man crew member of "Law & Order: Organized Crime," who was shot and killed has been identified by police.
Johnny Pizarro, age 31, of Queens, was shot in New York City in Greenpoint around 5:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, according to the NYPD.
Pizarro was sitting in a red Honda Civic, saving a parking spot, when another man opened the driver’s door and shot him, officials said.
Arriving officers found Pizarro unconscious and unresponsive. The crewman was hit in the head and neck, NYPD said.

NYC Mayor Revises Apartment Fire Death Toll, Fdny Commissioner Says Toll May Rise
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said a total of 17 people, including eight children, died in an apartment fire over the weekend, revising the initially reported higher death toll of 19, including nine children.
Adams made the announcement during a news conference on Monday, Jan. 10, adding that the situation is an "evolving crisis."
