29-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle Suffolk County Crash
A 29-year-old man was killed after losing control of his SUV and crashing on Long Island, according to authorities.
The victim, identified as Akeem Brothers, was killed around 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Shirley, said the Suffolk County Police.
According to police, Brothers was traveling southbound on the William Floyd Parkway in a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer when he lost control of the vehicle just north of Dawn Drive, left the roadway, and overturned.
The vehicle crashed into a wooded area approximately 30-feet west of the roadway, police said.

New Long Island Walmart Supercenter Hiring Hundreds Of Workers
With pandemic unemployment benefits drying up this month, a newly constructed Walmart Supercenter is offering hundreds of jobs to prospective employees on Long Island.
Walmart announced that it has established a hiring center for its new Supercenter location at 1490 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, which is in need of filling more than 400 hourly and management positions.
The store, set to open in November, will include a full-service grocery section, a home center, auto care center, pharmacy window, garden area, and a grocery pickup area.

Man Hit By Car While Walking Across William Floyd Parkway, Police Say
A man was seriously injured after being hit by a car while he was walking across the William Floyd Parkway.
It happened around 10:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 in Shirley, Suffolk County Police said.
Daniel Quigley, 33, of Shirley, was walking westbound across the parkway on the Route 27 overpass when he was struck a southbound 2009 Toyota Camry.
Quigley was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry, Andre Seura, 45, of Shirley, was not injured.
The Camry was impounded for a safety check.
