23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Lirr Train In Sayville
A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed after he was struck by a Long Island Railroad train.
According to David Steckel with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Christopher Reitzel, of Medford, was hit by LIRR Train 64 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, west of the Sayville Train station when he was on the tracks without authorization.
EMS transported Reitzel to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, MTA said.
Following the incident, LIRR said the Montauk Branch service was suspended between Oakdale and Sayville until 12:20 p.m.

The incident happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, west of the Wyandanch station, near the intersection of Long Island Avenue and Straight Path.
On Thursday, May 25, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Demetrius Houanche, of Deer Park, an MTA spokesperson told Daily Voice.

A Long Island resident who was allegedly standing on the tracks was hit and killed by a train.
The incident occurred in Southampton around 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17.
According to MTA officials, at about 3:40 p.m., the 3 p.m train from Speonk to Montauk fatally struck Rodney E. Brumsey, age 57, of Southampton, who was on the tracks west of Southampton Station near the Moses Lane grade crossing.
LIRR train service was suspended between Montauk and Speonk in both directions and buses were secured to transport passengers, MTA officials said.

Man Lying On Tracks Hit, Killed By Lirr Train, Nassau County Police Say
Police are investigating after a person was hit by a Long Island Railroad train, delaying service for commuters.
The man was struck around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, east of the Forest Hills by a Hempstead Branch train, according to the MTA.
According to the NYPD, the man was seen lying on the "roadbed" as the train pulled into the Forest Hills, Queens, station.
The motorman saw but could not stop in time, police said.
The victim died at the scene.

Man Struck, Killed By Lirr Train
A man was killed after being hit by an LIRR train on Long Island.
The unidentified man, who was on the tracks near Greenlawn, was struck around 6:37 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, said a spokeswoman for the MTA.
Train service was suspended between Huntington and Port Jefferson due to the incident, they added.
Service was restored around 8:36 p.m.
The incident, which is under investigation by the MTA Police, is considered non-criminal in nature, they added.
