Three people were arrested following a crash and subsequent brawl that broke out between several people on a busy Long Island roadway. The incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, on Sunrise Highway in North Lindenhurst. Scheduled roadwork could spell delays for Long Island drivers in the coming weeks. Both directions of the Long Island Expressway are scheduled to close nightly at Exit 63 in the Town of Brookhaven for two weeks, beginning on Monday, Oct. 9. The roadway will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night while crews continue working on a bridge deck renewal project, according to the Department of Transportation. The westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway are scheduled to close overnight between Exit 45 in Smithtown and Exit 42 in Huntington for three weeks, beginning Monday, Sept. 25.
