A quick stop for KFC ended in car theft for a 60-year-old man, leading to the arrests of two Roosevelt men in Baldwin, Nassau County police announced on Thursday, Jan. 23. The incident occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 9:47 p.m. outside the KFC at 1221 Grand Avenue, detectives said. The victim left his 2015 Toyota RAV4 running while picking up food from the fast food chain. When he returned, the SUV was gone, prompting him to call 911, according to police. One person suffered severe injuries and two others were also hospitalized in a crash near a Long Island intersection.It happened around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Setauket. A 79-year-old Setauket man was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester southbound on Laura Lane when he collided with a 2019 Toyota RAV4 traveling westbound on Lower Sheep Pasture Road, according to Suffolk County Police. Fatal Crash: 65-Year-Old From West Babylon ID'd As Victim On Sunrise Highway In Lindenhurst.
Police are investigating a fatal early morning crash on Long Island. It happened just after 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 in Lindenhurst. The victim was crossing Sunrise Highway (Route 27) at North Greene Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2005 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 58-year-old man. Jeffrey Schmohl, age 65, of West Babylon, was pronounced dead at the scene, Suffolk County Police said. The driver of the RAV4, a Lindenhurst resident, was alone in the vehicle and uninjured. Police have identified a man who they say was killed in a crash on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway. The crash happened on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 1 at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to the New York State Police. Jaron Lowndes, a 44-year-old Amityville resident, was riding his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle on the parkway, traveling southbound. An investigation is underway after a chain-reaction Christmas Eve crash on Long Island involving a drunk driver has left one person critically injured, according to police. The crash happened around 11:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 in Roslyn Heights. That's when Nassau County Police say a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder being operated by a 24-year-old man was traveling southbound on Mineola Boulevard. Man Convicted Of Murdering Coworker At Long Island Shop
A Long Island man will face life in prison when he is sentenced following his conviction for murdering his coworker during a dispute in 2018 at an auto repair shop. Glen Cove resident Lawrence Grammer, age 74, was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon following a fatal shooting at a Glen Head repair shop in August 2018.
