Overnight Ramp Closure Planned On LIE In North Hempstead State officials are advising motorists to prepare for an overnight ramp closure on the Long Island Expressway due to bridge maintenance.  The New York State Department of Transportation said the Exit 38 ramp from the eastbound Long Island Expressway (I-495) to the eastbound Northern State Parkway in the Town of North Hempstead will be closed.  The closure will take place from 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, until 5 a.m. on Friday, June 10, officials said.  A detour will be available at Exit 39 for Glen Cove Road southbound.

At about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, police responded to a report of a crash in Nassau County, New York State Police reported. One Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash On Northern State Parkway, Police Say One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash on the Northern State Parkway. The crash took place in Nassau County around 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, near the Town of North Hempstead, said the New York State Police. A preliminary investigation revealed that the crash occurred when a 2016 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound, struck the rear of a 2017 Dodge Durango traveling in the right lane, state police said.
