Suffolk County Reports Two More Cases Of West Nile Virus Two new cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed on Long Island, according to the Department of Health. Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services Dr. Gregson Pigott reported this week that two additional cases of West Nile virus in Suffolk County, bringing the total to seven over the course of the year. According to health officials, the first new case was in the Town of Southold in a resident over the age of 50. New York State Police said the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Monday, July 12 in Suffolk County, on the Southern State Parkway, east of Exit 38 in the Town of Babylon. A Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Range Rover were driving east erratically, and both vehicles attempted to pass between two other vehicles, a Toyota Prius and a Mitsubishi Outlander, which caused the crash, according to state police.
