HVAC Contractor Stiffs Long Island Homeowner Out Of $4K, Police Say
The owner of a Long Island HVAC company is accused of taking a homeowner’s money and running.
Francis Warner, age 41, of Brentwood, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to Suffolk County Police.
Warner owns Warner Brothers Air Max HVAC, based in Medford.
A North Bellport man told police he hired Warner in October 2023 to do HVAC work on his home and had paid Warner $3,850.
Despite receiving payment, Warner never returned to complete the job, police said.
Warner was arrested Tuesday morning during a traffic stop in Brentwood.

Three-Time Long Island Burglar Pleads Guilty For String Of Lowe’s Thefts
A Long Island man who allegedly stole over $3,000 from a Lowe’s store three times has pleaded guilty, officials said.
The plea came on Tuesday, May 16 from Terry Smith, aged 60, of Riverhead, the Suffolk County District Attorney announced.
Smith is accused of burglarizing the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store located on Old Country Road in Riverhead on three separate occasions.

A Long Island couple is now facing charges after they fraudulently obtained COVID relief fund money, officials claimed.
Hicksville residents Michael Arbassio, aged 65, and Eileen Dantini, aged 61, were arraigned on Wednesday, May 17 for allegedly filing false documents so that they could claim tens of thousands in COVID relief money, according to the District Attorney’s office.
According to the charges, Arbassio and Dantini had lived together as tenants in their Hicksville residence for 10 years, for which they paid monthly rent.

Trio Steals Multiple Tires, Rims From Long Island Dealerships, Police Say
Three men accused of stealing multiple car tires and rims from Long Island dealerships have been arrested.
Chase Barret, age 33, of Astoria; Eldorado Sterling, age 29, of Queens; and Jovanie Clarke, age 29, of Queens, were arrested on Sunday, April 2 following a traffic stop in Woodbury, according to Nassau County Police.
Officers spotted them at around 2 a.m. in a white Ford Econoline van traveling on Jericho Turnpike. The vehicle had been involved in multiple previous larcenies, police said.

Town Employee In Suffolk Arraigned For Stealing Property
An employee of a Long Island town was arraigned after authorities said he stole and sold town property worth thousands of dollars.
Robert Chura, age 29, of Selden, was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 6, after he was accused of stealing tools from the Town of Huntington and selling them, according to an announcement from Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney.
Chura was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny, and official misconduct, the DA's Office said.

Two Women Accused Of Stealing $43K From Long Island Employer
Two women were arrested and accused of stealing more than $43,000 from their Long Island employer over a nine-month period.
While employed at Goodwill Industries, Elana Sofia, age 29, of Port Jefferson, and Sandra Bonilla, age 33, of Brentwood, stole from the company's bank deposits from November 2020 until August 2021, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The business is located at 1900 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport, police said.
