Severe Weather Alert: Lines Of Strong Storms Sweeping Through Area This story has been updated. Lines of strong thunderstorms are moving west to east and will affect much of the area. One line, located along a line extending from Rockland County to Central Westchester were located around 4 p.m., moving southeast at 20 miles per hour. Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with these storms, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Statement issued late Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4.
