Boat Explosion: East Setauket Woman Seriously Injured At Smithtown Bay In Stony Brook Two people were injured, one seriously, in a boat explosion on Long Island. It happened Saturday, Aug. 5 at about 6 p.m. in Stony Brook. A 54-year-old East Setauket man was operating his boat, a 2003 Sea Ray Sundancer, in Smithtown Bay, traveling from Sunken Meadow State Park to Stony Brook Marina, when it stalled, Suffolk County Police said.  An explosion occurred on the boat a short time after it was restarted. Covid-19: State Park Family Passes Will Be Given To NYers Who Get Vaxed Through Memorial Day New York is “taking a shot in the park” to encourage New Yorkers to go out and get the COVID-19 vaccine. Any New Yorker who receives a COVID-19 vaccination this week will receive a free two-day family pass to visit any state park, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at a briefing on Monday, May 24 at Jones Beach in advance of Memorial Day Weekend. Anyone vaccinated between Monday, May 24, and Monday, May 31 will be eligible to receive passes.
