A woman allegedly driving under the influence of drugs nearly struck a Suffolk County Sheriff’s cruiser on the Long Island Expressway while going more than 30 mph over the posted speed limit. Suffolk County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Merrick resident Joanne Geraci, 36, at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, after she was stopped for driving 88 mph on the LIE in a posted 55 mph zone. A 61-year-old woman who failed to stop at a traffic circle is facing charges for alleged impaired driving, the Suffolk County Sheriff announced. Shortly before midnight in Patchogue on Friday, Nov. 1, Sheriff’s deputies stopped Ronkonkoma resident Salvadora Vaz on Waverly Avenue after she was spotted failing to yield at the traffic circle.
