A Long Island cardiologist and registered sex offender will spend years in prison after he admitted to possessing thousands of images depicting child sex abuse. Frank Pollaro, age 55, of Deer Park, was sentenced to four to eight years behind bars in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Sept. 9, after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. 2 Young Girls Die In Apparent Drowning In Holtsville Pond
Police on Long Island are investigating the deaths of two young girls — ages 2 and 4 — who are believed to have drowned in a pond behind an apartment complex, authorities said. The girls were found behind the Fairfield Townhouses at Holtsville at 2 Victorian Court in Holtsville on Saturday, Sept. 7, the Suffolk County Police Department said. A family member called 911 around 3:15 p.m. to report the girls missing. Police found their bodies in the pond a few minutes after they arrived at the scene. Woman Wearing Surgical Mask At Large After Bank Robbery In Selden
A female suspect is at large after a bank robbery on Long Island. It happened just after 4:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 in Selden. According to Suffolk County Police, a white woman wearing a surgical mask entered Chase Bank at 999 Middle Country Road and presented the teller with a note demanding money. The teller complied, and the suspect fled on foot with cash. A 20-year-old Long Island man was caught performing a "lewd act" while walking down the aisles in the middle of the afternoon at a local Walmart, police said. Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint on Long Island. A resident was killed in a Long Island house fire. The blaze broke out just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 in Bay Shore. Artemio Gonzalez, age 77, had been removed from the house by a family member, a good Samaritan and a Suffolk County PD Third Precinct officer.
