It happened around 9:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in Islip. A 54-year-old Bay Shore man was crossing Brentwood Road at the intersection of Colorado Avenue, when he was struck by a northbound 2018 Hyundai Elantra. The pedestrian was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.  The driver of the Elantra, a 53-year-old Brentwood man, was not injured.
