30-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Hit-Run Long Island Crash A man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-run crash overnight on Long Island. The incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 in North Amityville. Suffolk County First Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 report of an injured pedestrian on westbound Sunrise Highway, near Bayview Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the injured man lying in the roadway, police said.
