The crash took place around 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 1, when Gianni Mongelluzzo crashed his 1997 Chevrolet Corvette into a pole and trees on Old Country Road near Lewis Road in East Quogue, said the Town of Southhampton Police. The 19-year-old was pulled from the vehicle by East Quogue firefighters and airlifted by the Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
