Long Island Police Officer Critically Injured By Drunk Driver To Be Released From Hospital A Long Island police officer who was critically injured by an alleged drunk driver will be released from the hospital following a month-long stay. Timothy Thrane of the Suffolk County PD was directing traffic at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Yaphank Woods Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 3 when a drunk driver struck the rear of a parked GMC Yukon causing that vehicle to strike Thrane.  Thrane, age 35, suffered life-threatening brain injuries and was on life support and a ventilator, said the Suffolk County Police.
