Bay Shore Resident Killed After House Fire Breaks Out A resident was killed in a Long Island house fire. The blaze broke out just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 in Bay Shore. Artemio Gonzalez, age 77, had been removed from the house by a family member, a good Samaritan and a Suffolk County PD Third Precinct officer. Gonzalez was transported to South Shore Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. The family member and a Suffolf County PD Third Precinct officer were transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. The second such incident in the span of four days took place in Suffolk County at Ocean Beach around 11 a.m., Thursday, July 7. According to Chief Lifeguard Jillian Weinstein, the crew of lifeguards was conducting civil service training which is common practice for us in the mornings when the bite occurred. NYPD officer Nathaly Gomez Iglesias was eating in her Brentwood home at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31 when approximately 33 gunshots were fired into the residence, police said.
