Decomposed Body Found In Connecticut Home ID'd As Ponzi Swindler, Jeffrey Epstein Mentor
A body found in a Connecticut home during a welfare check has positively been identified as Steven Hoffenberg, a longtime mentor of Jeffrey Epstein.
Hoffenberg, the one-time owner of the New York Post and businessman who spent 18 years in prison for a $460 million Ponzi scheme, was found in the New Haven County home around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, in the city of Derby.
According to the Derby Police, the medical examiner's office confirmed on Friday, Aug. 26, that the badly decomposed body was that of Hoffenberg.

State Trooper In Hudson Valley Accused Of Sexually Abusing Victim 'Known To Him,' Police Say
A state trooper is facing multiple charges after police say he sexually abused a victim known to him.
Orange County resident Matthew A. Stivala, age 32, of the Town of Monroe, was arrested on Saturday, July 23, and charged with:
Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse (a Class D felony),
First-degree criminal sex act (a Class B felony),
Forcible touching (misdemeanor).
The charges stem from multiple incidents involving Stivala and the victim, police said.
Stivala is currently assigned to Troop T (Thruway Division), according to information provided by state police.

Westchester Woman Faces Child Porn Charges
A Westchester County woman is one of two people facing child pornography charges following an investigation.
Dilicia Aguirre-Orellana, age 22, of Yonkers, and 33-year-old Jonathan Rivera, of Brooklyn, were both charged with production and receipt and distribution of child pornography, according to an announcement on Monday, Feb. 28, from Damian Williams, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Aguirre-Orellana was also charged with possession of child pornography, Williams said.

Car Service Driver Accused Of Attempting To Rape 13-Year-Old In Nassau County
A Long Island man is facing charges after police said he attempted to rape a 13-year-old girl.
Eudy MejiaMejia, age 30, of Freeport, was arrested following the incident that occurred at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Police said the victim had called a local car service in Freeport to drive her home.
